One of our newest & most energetic Toronto models, Amy Hsu has undertaken a variety of different challenges in the field of modeling & entertainment since being introduced to the scene..KayceOnline.com recently caught up with Amy to chat about her life & upcoming projects..

KayceOnline: Hey Amy, great studio set! To get us started, tell us what you’re up to when you aren’t modeling or doing shoots..
Amy Hsu: Thanks! Well, I’m a full-time student at the University of Waterloo, so assignments and studying consumes most of my time during school.. During the summer, I work as a cashier at a pet’s store, because pets (especially dogs) are so incredibly precious and cute!

KayceOnline: Sap / puppy-lover alert! Now that we know you’re a softy at heart, tell us – if we could only know one thing about you.. what would you want us to know?
Amy Hsu: Hmm, I’d say that if the world could know only one thing about me, it would be that I’m eternally grateful for having my dad in my life. Without a doubt, he’s the reason I am who I am today. I love my daddy!

KayceOnline: I’m not gonna lie – that’s actually really sweet. Here’s a token “awwwwwwww” – how did you become introduced to the modeling industry in the first place?
Amy Hsu: Hahah, I guess it all started two years ago when I modeled for a fashion show at the University of Waterloo for fun. After that experience, I realized how fun and how natural being in front of the lens was to me. Modeling quickly became my passion.

KayceOnline: Any “crazy” modeling experiences to share so far in your career? Any memorable stories that stand out the most?
Amy Hsu: My craziest modeling-related story has to be getting my waist-long hair cut to just below my ears. I remember sitting in the chair and honestly, smacking me in the head for thinking that it’d be a good idea to chop my hair off for a photo shoot. Having had long hair for my entire life, I never realized it would be such a drastic change. I agreed only because I thought it’d be a great opportunity to work with an esteemed photographer and a creative hairstylist. I didn’t consider however, that it would probably take me three years to grow my hair back again. (Laughs.) Was it worth it? Probably not..

KayceOnline: Don’t speak too soon – short hair brings forth an appeal that most girls definitely can’t pull off, so there’s that! Have you thought about any short- or long-term plans with modeling & the entertainment business?
Amy Hsu: My current plans are to gain more experience and build a more complete modeling portfolio. Hopefully I’ll eventually see myself in print-ads all across Toronto! That would be awesome.

KayceOnline: That makes sense.. Since you’re still relatively early in “the game” at age 19/20 – have you thought about where you’d like to be in.. let’s say, 10 years?
Amy Hsu: In 10 years, if all things go according to plan, I should be happily married with two kids and settled down in a nice little house. I’m very traditional in terms of wanting to start a family, and I want nothing more in life than to have a stable career and loving kids.

KayceOnline: A girl like you settling down to raise a family? Wow. You don’t know it, but you just made yourself 10x more attractive with that statement.. While we’re on the topic, what would you say is your sexiest feature?
Amy Hsu: I’d have to say that my sexiest feature are my eyes, because unlike most Asians, I have long, full eyelashes (which thank God, makes my eyes bigger) and light brown eyes naturally.

KayceOnline: I can SEE that, haha. You’re definitely a natural beauty, now stop looking at me like that ;) Let’s make this more interesting – what turns YOU on the most about a guy?
Amy Hsu: Lips and shoulders turn me on the most I think. And, I like guys with pouty lips and muscular arms just as much as the next girl :) This may be weird, but I have a thing for forearms and hands, and sexy abs don’t hurt either, haha.

KayceOnline: That sounds pretty specific eh? Have someone in mind already, or could I ask you out on.. Err, humour us for a bit – what would your ideal date be like anyways?
Amy Hsu: My ideal date would consist of roses and romance. The traditional dinner and movie, (and perhaps a nice walk around town), would suffice. The most perfect date I’ve ever been on was a surprise dinner date at the CN Tower – and I’m honestly not sure what would top that :P

KayceOnline: Dinner date at the CN Tower? Pffft, there’s still room for improvement.. or, a date with umm.. Sooo. Now that you’ve laid out your (high) standards, exactly how would an average guy be able to get YOUR attention?
Amy Hsu: I like the average guy for his ability to be average. There’s nothing specific that would grab my attention except maybe a nice smile, or confidence. I guess the most important thing is if a guy can make me laugh. That and charm, cause let’s face it – if a guy doesn’t have any game then where’s the fun in that? I generally like guys who are forward; if you can be confident enough to speak your mind, then you could be my type ;)

KayceOnline:Average Joes with confidence and a little bit of personality – here’s your chance! Any final words to sweep us off our feet?
Amy Hsu: I can be sugar and spice, naughty but nice – there’s more to me than meets the eye ;) Once you get to know me, you’ll notice my little quirks, and although they may be weird sometimes, and you’ll realize that that’s what makes me.. me! I think the most important thing that can keep anyone grounded in this hectic world we live in is being true to themselves – that’s a goal I’ll always continue to strive for. I’m incredibly grateful for all the support thus far and I’m excited to see what else is in store for me!
