we met by chance, drawn closer through what can only be explained as destiny; our chemistry intuitive since day one.

one stranded at the tail end of a relationship, the other stuck at a personal crossroads – we were hardly supposed to care for one another.

yet, we did. on the strength of a genuine friendship, we took a chance on one another despite opposition.

finally we reached those turning points. you weren’t sure of what you wanted, but you were sick of being under-appreciated. i knew all too well what i wanted, but i was done with unmet expectations, tired of playing the waiting game.

so we talked, but more importantly we listened. a 3 hour talk about relationships, where the concept of an ‘us’ never came up once. yet we learned our hopes & dreams, that one of us yearned for individual growth, while the other simply hoped to be carefree again.

before we knew it, the tables turned. i started seeing you for who you were, who you wanted to be, instead of the person you’d been in the past. when i looked into your eyes, all that i’d been instructed to know about you went out the window.

turns out a clean slate is beautiful thing.

long accustomed to making my own rules, i found your warmth disarming. despite the imminent challenges in my court and all you’d already been through in recent relationships, you chose to brave them once again with a smile on your face.

and so, you’ve inspired me. i believe.

everything happens for a reason. nothing more, nothing less.
